Team leave coverage
planner.
Add planned absences, set your minimum staffing level, and spot leave overlaps before they become coverage gaps.
How the coverage check works
This planner makes the simple staffing maths visible, one day at a time.
Count planned absences
Every absence is inclusive of its first and last date. Absences outside your planning window are ignored until they overlap it.
Calculate daily availability
Available staff equals the number of team members entered minus the people absent on that date.
Flag staffing gaps
A date is at risk when available staff fall below your minimum. Every calendar day is shown so the tool works for weekday and shift teams.
The location field is a label only; this version does not apply public holidays or local working patterns. For practical planning guidance, read how to resolve leave clashes fairly and our leave-aware rostering guide.

From inclusive dates to staffing minimums and browser privacy.
Talk to our team01What does a team leave coverage planner show?
It shows how many people are available on each day after planned absences are deducted. Set the minimum staffing level your team needs and the planner highlights dates that fall below it.
02Are absence start and end dates included?
Yes. Both the first and last day of every absence are counted. The planning range is inclusive too, so its first and last dates appear in the heatmap.
03Does the planner exclude weekends or public holidays?
No. It displays every calendar day because working patterns vary across office, shift, and international teams. Use the location label to identify the team you are reviewing, then interpret non-working days against that team's schedule.
04Is the leave information saved?
No. This free planner runs in your browser and does not save the names or dates you enter. Refreshing or leaving the page clears the plan.
05How can I manage leave overlaps continuously?
Leave Balance keeps approved absences on a live team calendar, so managers can see who is off before approving another request. It also handles requests, approvals, balances, and custom policies for unlimited employees.
